About
My interest in music started out with taking informal piano lessons in when I was a kid. After about five years of piano lessons, I became interested in computer music and started producing electronic trance music as a hobby. After another five years, I stopped producing trance as I started to discover western art music and the orchestra. I became fascinated in the musical depth it had to offer. It was then I realised the importance of learning music theory and studying the masterworks of the composers. I began to teach myself the art form of composition by reading countless theory books in harmony, counterpoint, and orchestration. I also started listening to the music of many composers from Baroque to Modern, as well as learning about their compositional style, and their impact towards the art.
As I became knowledgeable in orchestral music, I started to become aware of the music behind the films that I watched, and the games that I played, and how it made a huge contribution emotionally. This became the inspiration to pursue a career in music composition, and to learn about soundtrack music. This also inspired me to explore other genres of music, as I noticed that film and game composers would often compose in a style and genre that suited the media. This was when I became fascinated in what different genres of music had to offer musically such as jazz, rock, electronic, and even chiptune. My passion for music and composition is growing all the time, and it is the motivation to discover, learn, and pursue it professionally.
